For most of my 27 years of teaching, I have taught personal narratives in some way, shape or form. In doing so, I have encountered a wide variety of personal narratives to use as mentor texts. In the past, I’ve tried reading a different narrative to my students every day.
We recently finished our writing unit on personal narratives. As with all of my units, I like to take a little time to reflect on what went well, as well as what I would like to do differently. Today I’d like to share my thoughts and strategies on narrative leads.
